Sevrin Shapiachan


Originally from Poland, Sevrin has over 20 years of competitive ballroom dance experience. He is the 10 Dance Champion and has participated in over 300 dance competitions around the world. As the instructor who taught stars like Kirstie Alley in preparation for Dancing With the Stars and Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars, Sevrin is renowned in both the international and American styles. He has been dancing and competing in the International Standard and Latin divisions since the age of ten.

After moving to the US, he taught and competed in both American Smooth and American Rhythm, becoming Arthur Murray World Future and Rising Stars Rhythm Champion.

Not only does his dancing get the attention of both students and judges, he has a personality that will keep you laughing while you learn. His ability to teach the hardest patterns and techniques in a simple way has his students always coming back for more.

He teaches from beginner to advanced levels, and specializes in competitive dancing for amateur women, making them look sexy and confident on the dance floor. In addition to his dancing and teaching background, Sevrin has the rare quality of choreographing show routines for his students that let his student’s style, personality, and skill shine.

All of our dance instructors are highly skilled and trained to help you learn in our invigorating dance studio. Hailing from around the world, our teachers are award-winning professionals and gifted educators, many of whom are still active in competitive dance themselves. Most of our teachers have passed rigorous exams given by the Imperial Society of the Teachers of Dance as well as the Fred Astaire Curriculum certification.

Susannah Moss


She and her Co-owner Sevrin, opened the Fred Astaire Studio together after having worked on several dance projects together. Originally from London England, Susannah has over 15 years of dance experience. Having moved to the USA in 2000 where she started her journey in Ballroom Dance, she taught at Fred Astaire in Knoxville, TN where she won several Pro-Am titles with her students and competed in American Rhythm & Smooth. She also performs many Theater Arts routines and is knowledgeable on lifts and theatrical dance. She continues to compete on a regular basis with her students and spearheads many large-scale events such as Dancing with the stars DC & Dancing with the Services, as well as local dance events and studio trips.

Susannah specializes in dance lessons for beginners and wedding couples.  She teaches with extreme confidence, knowledge, and passion. She will make you feel comfortable while enabling you to make quick progress thanks to her teaching style. But above all, you are guaranteed to have fun and be dancing before you know it.

Nathan Trexler

Dance Instructor

Born in Hawaii, Nathan grew up in Sterling, VA. He attended Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA as a Musical Theatre Major, where he also began ballroom dancing in 2011.

After dancing as a student for two years, Nathan trained and began teaching in Williamsburg in 2013.

Since beginning his career as a professional dance instructor, Nathan has participated in multiple charity events like Dancing with the Williamsburg Stars, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Literacy For Life, Starlets of Dance, and Beyond Boobs — a charity which provides support and education for breast cancer survivors.

He has competed in the American Rhythm category as a professional, and in American Rhythm and American Smooth with some of his students. His energy instantly puts a smile on the faces of those dancing with or around him.

Jonathon Evans

Jonathan Evans

Dance Instructor

From Panama City, Florida, Jonathan started his ballroom venture as a part of a studio franchise in 2007.He is the first one to admit how ballroom dancing has helped him grow and become a better person. He finds teaching to be a very rewardable experience because he enjoys seeing how dancing touches people’s lives. He loves the way people change as they develop new dance skills and helping people is one of the biggest reasons he loves teaching.

Jonathan has trained with many of the country’s top coaches and dancing stars such as Tony Dovolani, Lacey Schwimmer, Tristan McManus, Tommie and Joe Trovato, Luann Pullium and Alec Mazo. Developed choreography for local theater presentations such as Man of La Mancha and was a featured dancer in David Winters’ movie production, East Side Story.

Lauren Axtell

Dance Instructor

Born in Pennsylvania, Lauren grew up dancing and never fearing the stage. Her childhood years were spent in tap shoes, jazz shoes, talent shows, and musicals; but thanks to a “gym credit” in college, she found her way to partner dancing and hasn’t looked back since! Having taught previously at Arthur Murray Dance Studios in Lemoyne PA, and Tyson’s Corner VA, Lauren has over 8 years of teaching experience and has received several top teacher awards at Freestyle Pro-Am events at both locations. Lauren has competed professionally in American Rhythm, and hopes to cross the Pro American Smooth category off her bucket list soon!

Teaching students takes time, patience, and passion – and that shows in Lauren’s teaching style no matter the age of the student. The journey of learning how to dance is different for everyone, but that’s what keeps Lauren on her toes! Whether you’re learning for your first dance, for fun, or to stand out on the dance floor, Lauren will personalize the lessons to help you reach your goals.

Lauren is more than excited to become part of the team at Fred Astaire Reston and hopes to find her new groove in the dancing industry while sharing her love for music with everyone!

Jose Saavedra

Dance Instructor

We are pleased to welcome Jose Saavedra to Fred Astaire Fred Astaire Reston our newest Dance Instructor Jose was Born in Peru before moving to Virginia as a child. Jose’s love of dance was introduced very early on from his parents, and his Peruvian roots.  Jose is currently in the medical field as surgical assistant but always was drawn to dance and continued his love of latin dancing as a freelance instructor for many years.  On his free time he competes in ultra-marathons, believes that a healthy body fuels a healthy mind.
Jose believes, as we do, that dancing changes people’s lives for the better and with his medical training and healthy lifestyle he can demonstrate that dance will create a healthy body, healthy mind and bring absolute happiness to anyone who makes that first step into dancing.

Michael Holmes

Dance Instructor

Michael Holmes is originally from Atlanta, GA where he worked for Fred Astaire Dance Studios for a number of years he then had the opportunity to further is career in FL working for Walt Disney World.  His professional Dance and Entertainment career spans over 16 years and most notably worked for the entertainment team and choreographed shows for Walt Disney World, Busch Gardens, Six Flags and multiple dance companies throughout the southeast. Michael also, simultaneously, was involved in the real estate industry starting as a leasing agent and finishing that career as a Marketing and Social Media Director.
Over the past four years Michael has been running a small consulting company, Miho Inc which marries his two careers, mainly through assisting with the creation of large events and giving instruction to those around him and marketing campaigns. He now calls Reston home and is very excited to return to his first love, Fred Astaire.
Michael is larger than life, and cares deeply for his students. He believes passionately about the benefits of dance and wants to bring that passion and joy to to everyone.

Lisette GoDoy

Dance Instructor

Lissette is a Cuban dancer, instructor and choreographer who graduated from the National School of Dance in Havana in 2008. After graduation she joined Malpaso Dance Company from Havana. She has won three Awards, Best Female Interpretation in Hoguin in 2014, Best Coreography Award in Havana in 2016 and a scholarship in a contest  sponsored by Vladimir Malakhov’s International Festival in 2016. The scolarship made it possible for her to come to the U.S. In addition to performance, she also enjoys teaching and choreographing. She performed in the Kennedy Center with Company E, PrioreDance, Kyoko Dansu and DC Cacineros in their last season.

She is extremely talented in all Latin dancing and hopes to bring that flare and passion to Fred Astaire Reston.
