Dancing is a great form of exercise, but the physical health benefits of dancing are often overlooked. The truth is, dancing is a fun way to sneak exercise into your life without realizing it. It is often said that the most successful exercise routine is one that you enjoy doing enough that you aren’t tempted to skip it. Hopefully, dancing can be that for you. In this two-part blog series, we will be looking at some of the top health benefits to dancing. Here are the first two:
Improved balance and coordination
Dancing requires excellent balance and coordination, so it only makes sense that the more you dance, these things will improve. Every time you dance, you are working out the stabilizing muscles in your core and in your legs that allow you to balance. The more you work these muscles, the better your balance will be. Learning dances is also a great way to improve your coordination, because you can start slowly and ramp up to full speed at your own pace.
It is easy to work up a sweat while dancing, which makes it a great form of aerobic exercise. In our next blog, we will look at how dancing aerobically can be used for weight management.
It should be obvious now that dancing offers a wide variety of benefits. On top of all the physical benefits of dancing, it is a lot of fun, and a great way to meet people.
